Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident Village of Port Byron North Central Cayuga County
For Immediate Release
Sheriff Rob Outhouse announces that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one car fatal motor vehicle accident, which occurred at 5:30 this morning on Green Street near the intersection of Shotwell Street in the Village of Port Byron.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased, Richard M. Jorolemon age 61 of 12 Green Street, Port Bryon was operating a 2004 Dodge Pick-up truck Westbound on Green Street when he veered off of the roadway near the intersection of Shotwell Street and struck a utility pole.
Jorolemon was transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital by Port Byron Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance. Mr. Jorolemon was pronounced dead at 6:20 AM in the AMH Emergency Room by the attending ER Doctor.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives are continuing their investigation in conjunction with the Cayuga County Coroner’s Investigator and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
"Our investigation is continuing in an effort to determine why Mr. Jorolemon veered off the roadway. We may have the answers when the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office completes their examination and we have the opportunity to confer with them.”
