NEW YORK SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION ANNUAL FUND DRIVE
Sheriff Rob Outhouse is happy to report that the he has authorized the New York State Sheriff’s Association to send letters to the citizens throughout Cayuga County to solicit support for the many worthwhile programs that individual donations support.
The annual Association Fund Drive is clearly recognizable by the distinctive red, white and gold NYSSA star logo. The solicitation letters are sent to households via US mail. There is no telephone solicitation and as always we recommend that you do not respond to phone solicitation of any type!
Three very important programs impact us right here in Cayuga County:
Continuing Education Scholarship Program…Each year the NYSSA funds a scholarship for a graduate of Cayuga County Community College that is going on to a four year program in the field of Law Enforcement. Sheriff Rob Outhouse and CCC President Dennis Golladay make the award at the end of the spring academic year.
Children’s Summer Camp, “Camp Magic” …Each Summer the NYSSA funds a camping experience for children who are Cayuga County residents for a weeklong stay at the Sheriff’s Summer Camp located on Keuka Lake in Yates County in the western Finger Lakes. The camp is in its 32nd year of operation and 15 Cayuga County children enjoyed their stay last summer. We intend to send at least sixteen more deserving children this summer who would not otherwise be able to enjoy what many others take for granted.
The VINE program… Victim Information and Notification system. This is a nationwide computer based system that is utilized by our County Jail to notify anyone interested in the release status of anyone incarcerated in our jail. Especially developed for crime victims for advance notification, anyone can register for this information with a simple phone call.
Furthermore:
The NYSSA also acts as a training resource for Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs. There is also a legal staff that advises Law Enforcement on many issues including legislation that affects all of us here in Cayuga County.
“I consider the New York State Sheriff’s Association a valuable resource to Law Enforcement as well as every citizen of Cayuga County. I encourage anyone who has the resources that is willing and able, to make a contribution to this worthwhile organization.”
