BURGLARY ARREST – Southern Cayuga Central School
Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that a Juvenile Delinquency petition has been filed in Cayuga County Family Court charging a 14 year old male with what would be considered Burglary if he were an adult. The petition alleges that the juvenile unlawfully entered the Southern Cayuga Central School building in Poplar Ridge on two separate occasions with the intent to steal property and to damage property.
The first break-in was reported on May 23rd and the second on May 31st. Since that time Detectives have been working with the assistance of Deputy Nedza who is assigned to the school as a School Resource Officer (SRO). They worked in concert following leads and developing suspects. The 14 year old petitioned into Family Court was taken into custody by Detectives Cornelius and Schenck after being interviewed on May 31st in Poplar Ridge.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating another unrelated break-in at the Southern Cayuga Central School building which was reported on May 7, 2005. The Sheriff asks that anyone with any information they believe would be helpful to the investigation contact Detective Quigley at the Criminal Investigations Unit of the Sheriff’s Office 315-253-1132.
