Arrest: Felony Narcotic Sale
Sheriff Rob Outhouse announces that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Brutus resident for providing a minor (child) with an illegal narcotic.
On Wednesday 06-15-05 Detectives from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the New York State Narcotics Bureau who requested assistance in an investigation involving a 16-year-old female who had been found in possession of one Oxycodone “Percocet” pill by her mother. Percocet is a prescription medication prescribed as a muscle relaxer.
The investigation revealed that the child’s mother, upon discovering the pill, took it to a local pharmacy for the purpose of having the pill identified. The pharmacy in turn contacted the NYS Narcotics Bureau. Upon conducting interviews Detectives learned that James B. Cotter age 48 of 231 Henderson Lane Weedsport, N.Y. had given the narcotic pill to the minor earlier that same day. Cotter was arrested at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building today after an interview.
CHARGES
Cotter was arraigned in the Town of Sennett Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $1000.00 cash or $2500.00 bond.
“Parents, please pay close attention to what medications may come into your child’s possession. Any questions, contact your pharmacist or a police agency to determine the identity of anything suspicious.”
