UNDERAGE POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL
Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that at 11:45 PM Saturday night his Deputies responded to properties on Miller Road in the Town of Sennett to investigate the report of a large Underage Drinking Party.
Upon investigation it was determined that approximately 100 young people were at the sand pit with an abundance of open and unopened alcoholic beverages on the grounds. All persons interviewed were under 21. Those possessing alcohol were ID’d and issued appearance tickets for 65-C of the NYS ABC Law (Possession of alcoholic beverage with the intent to consume).
All persons were instructed to leave the scene in their vehicles with a sober operator and without possessing any alcohol. All drivers were issued sobriety tests prior to leaving and any persons leaving with alcohol in their possession were issued appearance tickets for ABC section 65-C
Twenty people were cited for possession of alcohol with the intent to consume. One fifteen year old was turned over to her family that was at the scene.
In all, seven Deputies and one Trooper responded, made the citations and dispersed the crowd.
“We are in the season of High School Graduation and the celebrations associated with the success of our children… our greatest resource. Parents please pay attention to who your teens are with, where they are and most of all encourage them to act responsibly. Underage drinking in any form or in any venue is the fast ticket to disaster and it’s simply against the law!”

The Sheriff asks anyone with information on underage drinking to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-1222.
