Arrests Death Investigation Town of Genoa Thursday 06-30-05

Sheriff Rob Outhouse announces that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two persons in connection with the investigation into the drowning, which occurred on Thursday night 06-30-05 at the Willet Dairy Farm located on Rt. 34 in the Town of Genoa.

A joint investigation conducted by Sheriff’s Detectives and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents revealed that the victim, originally identified to law enforcement as Eric Lopez, was in the United States illegally and was using false identity. The victim has now been identified as Moises Zacarias Ramirez, age 18 of Guatemala. The investigation further revealed that Ramirez had consumed a large amount of beer prior to drowning and that two persons were directly responsible for providing the minor with the beer.

Charged are:
Jennifer L. Montalvo age 28 of 10100 Rt. 90 Genoa, N.Y.

Eleazin Vasquez-Jiminez age 22 of 5061 Lane Rd. Locke, N.Y.

Eleazin Vasquez-Jiminez had originally identified himself to law enforcement as Osia-Asael Vazquez and had produced what has now been determined to be forged identification cards. He has been  in the United States illegally and is currently being held in the Cayuga County Jail awaiting prosecution on our state charges as well as action by Immigration Enforcement Agents. The arrests were made on 07-08-05 at approximately 10:00 in the morning. At the time of their arrest Montalvo and Vasquez-Jiminez were found in the company of three other persons, all Guatemalan males, subsequently identified as illegal aliens. Their custody was transferred to United States Border Patrol Agents at the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office. All three were then transported to Syracuse to be processed for immigration crimes.

Jennifer Montalvo was issued an appearance ticket and will have her case heard in the Town of Genoa Court.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-1222 or the Criminal Investigations Unit directly at 315-253-1610.
