CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that Cayuga County Sheriff’s Detectives became involved in an investigation into the trafficking of child pornography by a resident of the Town of Locke in Southern Cayuga County.  On Wednesday July 6th the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Keene Police Department in the State of New Hampshire and was informed that they had developed information that Joseph N. Musco Jr, 51 years of age was involved in some inappropriate behavior on the internet.  As a result of the cooperative efforts between the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the Keene (NH) Police Department a search warrant was executed by members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 1090 Route 38  Locke, NY on Monday night the 19th.  This is the residence of Joseph N. Musco Jr. as well as the site of the Bare Bones Camp grounds.  Musco is the proprietor of this campground which is commonly referred to as a “nudist camp”, one of two in Cayuga County.  The other long established “nudist camp” is Empire Haven located in the Town of Summerhill. We are not aware of any association between the camps. As a result of the search several items were secured as evidence including computer equipment, an unregistered handgun, a small quantity of marihuana and other items.  Joseph N. Musco Jr. was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

Promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child FELONY
Possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child FELONY
Attempted Disseminating indecent material to minors 1st Degree FELONY
Criminal possession of a weapon 4th Degree MISDEMEANOR
Unlawful possession of marihuana VIOLATION

Musco was arraigned in the Village of Moravia Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing.  The Sheriff asks that anyone with any information they believe would be helpful to the investigation contact Detectives directly at the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit by calling: 315-253-1610.
