LARCENY
Sheriff Rob Outhouse reports that on Wednesday night 07-20-05 at 5:58 PM Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Clark’s Liquor Store on Owasco Rd in the Town of Owasco for a reported robbery. When Deputies arrived it was determined that in fact a larceny had been committed which did not meet the elements of a robbery.
The lone employee working at the time reported that a man entered the store and purchased a small bottle of liquor using a five-dollar bill. The clerk stated that when she opened the cash register to make change the man reached over the counter and took several twenty-dollar bills from the register. The man did not threaten the clerk and did not display any weapons. The employee gave a detailed description of the man and his vehicle along with a partial plate number.
Today at 2:00 PM Detectives arrested Willie E. Love, age 41, at his residence in Seneca Falls. Love admitted his involvement in the larceny continuing to be cooperative in our investigation. Love was arrested and charged with:
Petit Larceny a Class A Misdemeanor
He was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear on a later date in the Owasco Town Court.
The information obtained by the Liquor store employee was a key element in making this arrest possible.
“This is a classic case that should be an example to anyone that is placed in a position like this. When someone makes an aggressive move, back off, don’t be resistant and remain observant for details. This clerk’s observations and attention to detail made our case!”
