Illegal Drug Possession Arrest Southern Cayuga County Towns of Genoa and Venice
For Immediate Release

Sheriff Rob Outhouse announces that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person for illegally growing and possessing marihuana.

On Wednesday morning 09-14-05 Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies set up a “stake out” on a marihuana field located on the Genoa-Venice Townline Rd. in the Town of Genoa. At 5:00 AM a suspect was observed entering the marihuana field. Sheriff’s Office personnel were subsequently able to take this subject into custody without incident.

The ensuing investigation lead to the recovery of 23 marihuana plants from that plot along with another 12 plants from a second field on Schoolhouse Road in the Town of Venice. A search of the suspect’s residence in the Town of Lansing in Tompkins County yielded more marihuana evidence. In all over 38 pounds of marihuana was recovered.

Charged is:

Roger G. Schnock age 59 of 15 Dug Rd. Lansing, N.Y.

Schnock was arraigned in the Town of Genoa Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Schnock has since posted bail.

“I commend our Sheriff’s Office personnel for their diligence in pursuing these cases. Our Deputies and Detectives have recovered fifty-one pounds of marihuana in just two cases (Morency & Schnock) this week.”
