Illegal Drug Possession Arrest
For Immediate Release

Sheriff Rob Outhouse announces that a joint investigation between the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA (US Drug Enforcement Administration) has lead to the arrest of two persons for illegally growing and possessing marihuana. There was also the discovery of a suspected “Clandestine Methamphetamine lab”.

On Tuesday 10-04-05 at 4:00 PM a Federal Search Warrant was executed at 3972 Whipple Rd. in the Town of Genoa, the home of Courtney Tyrrell where he resided with his girlfriend Jamie Weeks. Recovered during the search were approximately 44 pounds of processed marihuana, 101 growing marihuana plants, over $18,000 in US currency, 10 loaded long guns including one AR-15 assault rifle, several rounds of armor piercing ammunition and approximately 5.3 grams of methamphetamine. Other evidence recovered included items used to manufacture marihuana and methamphetamine. Members also seized a 2003 Polaris ATV, which was being used to further the marihuana operation. The street value of the processed marihuana is estimated at $103,000.00

Charged are:

Courtney E. Tyrrell age 27 of 3972 Whipple Rd. Locke, N.Y.

Jamie L. Weeks age 27 of 3972 Whipple Rd. Locke, N.Y.

Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Locke Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

On 10/05/05 Courtney Tyrrell was arrested at the Cayuga County Jail by Federal DEA Agents and was charged with the following Federal crimes which are both felonies:

Tyrrell was arraigned in Federal Court in the City of Syracuse this afternoon and is being detained at the Cayuga County Jail. Further charges are pending.

Also assisting in the investigation were the Central New York Drug Task Force and the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force. The Federal charges will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in Syracuse.
